Time for another long overdue blog.

I've pretty much been doing the same old routine since my Minnesota Trip. Working, golfing, a little gambling, drinking, and smoking ceegars. I am also going to start Brazilian Jujitsu and MMA Training, to help me get in better shape and maybe consider starting an amateur fighting career, obviously I'd be fighting at the 155 (lightweight) class as I cannot gain any weight to save my life. I've been golfing and practicing quite a bit because I am thinking about making an appearance at the Clark County Amateur Championship, but my game is just horrendous right now....all I do is shoot 78, 79, 80, and make mistake after mistake on the course. It's really frustrating, so I am going to start working with a professional here and try to tighten my game up, so I can hang with some of the best amateurs in the area, who also happen to be members at the club I work at.

Now onto my California Trip for the HPT Event. I went out there with my two roomies and was pretty excited as this would be the first time I touched cards since going busto, not to mention I hadn't taken a road trip in fucking forever. The drive was like 7 hours and it was quite easy, the tourney was in a casino that was right in Yosemite National Forest, pretty cool damn area if I do say so myself. We got there and went straight to the casino to check out the action, not much No Limit side action, but they did have two $1-$2 NL tables going so Mike and I jumped in. I pretty much did as per usual, sat and played like a rock for hours to help my table image, and chipped away at small pots. I was doing well, and playing very good, I was up about $150, when I decided it was time to get creative and take advantage of my tight table image. A loose player came into the pot for $10, and I decided to make it $30 to go with J6 of diamonds on the button, and Todd (HPT partner) flat called my raise and the other folded. I thought Todd was sitting on a hand like 99, 1010, or AK, the flop came down Q47 two diamonds, Todd checked to me and I checked behind him. I didn't wanna fire at that flop, because he would likely raise me with a hand like 99 to see where I was at, and I didn't want to commit too much money until I had a hand. The thing about Todd is sometimes you can push him off a hand and sometimes you can't, so I didn't mind checking behind him. The turn was a offsuit 2, Todd bet $35, I figured I was getting the right implied odds to call, and if I miss, I could probably push him off his hand on the river, but I really just wanted to make my hand lol. The river was a 2 of diamonds, bink, I hit my hand, and he checked to me, he obviously didn't like that card, so I was going to have to make a value bet in order for him to pay me off...so I bet $45 and he reluctantly called and showed JJ. He then proceeded to say "Man...I can;t figure this guy out, he sits around folding for 3 hours and then reraises with J6 of diamonds and I flat call with JJ thinking he may have a monster". Ahhhhh the beauties of using your table image. I quit the session up $405 and went back to the hotel to get ready for drinking. We went to the bar at the casino and there was pretty much 0 good looking girls, so I did what I like to do best when there aren't any girls....DRINK. When the bar closed at 2, Mike wanted to play blackjack and I decided, what the hell I can sit with a $100 and have fun with it. Things were going good and I was up $150, but I went retarded and stayed there when the deck got cold and lost it all back. Then we did the stupidest thing ever...played poker, shorthanded drunk. Real fucking smart Bakken. I got smoked for like $800, there was a hand that was a cooler, but I could've gotten away from it because of the horrendous tells the other player was giving away, but I had the ol "what the hell, I'm drunk attitude." Mike played in the tourney the next day busting out near the cash line, I decided to sitout, because my license is expired and that would probably pose problems for the W2G they would have to fill out if I won any money. Mike got killed for like $1800, and I lost a total of a $100 on the weekend, but it feels like I lost $900, since I was up $800, but that fucking drunken fiasco cost me. Lesson learned, I will never gamble again drunk.

So now I am back to the work grind and am thinking about putting poker on hold for another six months, I made a freakin budget for myself, and am quite proud of it. So I'd like to just take care of some other things and save up the right amount of a bankroll before I start playing regularily again.

One other note...My Old Man gave me a Vince Flynn Book called Term Limits, the first in the series. This book rocked, its a political spy thriller that is just great. I loved reading every page and was kinda pissed when I finished it, if you haven't read this book or any by Vince Flynn I definately think you should take a gander. He's also from Minnesota, so you gotta support the cool mother fuckers from MN.

That'll be all for now, I'll post another blog in a few days talking about the PGA Tour tourney at TPC and some of the drunken hands I misplayed in Cali.
